Fun for the Younger Set in Puerto Vallarta:  Puerto Vallarta is visited by thousands of people every year; many of these visitors are young and looking for fun and a good time.  This great Mexico beach destination has countless activities and places for every mood and budget.  It’s not necessary to spend much to have a good time.  Here are some great options for some inexpensive fun and good food.

Let’s begin with some restaurants; these will give you a good feel for Mexican cuisine at a very reasonable price.

“El Coleguita” is one of the most popular seafood restaurants in Vallarta.  Located in the Marina, with a great ambiance and view overlooking the pier. The portions are very large, enough for 2 people to share.

“Pinocchio’s”, it’s “the place” to enjoy a delicious pizza or pasta.  It is located next to the bridge that connects the Malecon to Los Muertos beach, simply tasty.

“Takos Pancho’s” The traditional flavor of Mexican Tacos.  Look for them on Basilio Badillo Street almost on the corner of Olas Alas street.

There are a few Japanese restaurants in Vallarta with good cuisine, and a variety of dishes.  “Kashi Sushi” has great prices, along with quality food and service. ¨Kashi Sushi¨ is located near the “Stadium”, 3 blocks away from the main road on Olas Altas.

If one of your favorite things when you visit Mexico is the food, there’re two places that you have to visit.  We call them “fonditas”, the first one. “El Rinconcito” is open for breakfast and lunch, and has great food. They deliver (if you’re near their location).  The second, “Dianita’s” here you’ll surely find nice local people to meet and talk to, it’s the favorite of many.  They have a great variety and different menu every day. Typical home made food with a great price. Find them in the Romantic Zone on the corner of Ignacio Vallarta and Francisco Madero.

Now, we have recommendations of bars and clubs so you can hang out, have a drink, and dance.

If you’re in the mood for being on the beach with a chair and a drink in your hand, you have to visit “Lido Beach Club”.  You are sure to have a relaxing time, listening music and looking at the ocean from under your umbrella.  Located on Los Muertos beach.

“Paradise Burger” on the Malecon is the perfect place to be any evening sitting on the balcony, enjoying a drink and live music.

“Iris Pub” is a good place to hang out with your friends. It’s a kind of alternative/rock place. Start your night having a beer and playing pool while you listen to a live local rock band.  Also located on the Malecon.

“La Noche” is a fun alternative, great drinks and good music.  Located on Francisco I. Madero street in the Romantic Zone.

“Party Lounge” is always an excellent time. Here you can drink, dance and have a great time.  Located across the street from Hidalgo Park, one block from the beginning of the Malecon.

Two other options, of the many you will find on the Malecon of Puerto Vallarta are “The Zoo” and “La Vaquita”.  Prices here are a little bit higher, but you are sure to have a fun time.

“CC Slaughter” has DJ mixed music all night.  With music and a beer in your hand you’ll be in the mood for dancing.  Located on Ignacio L. Vallarta.

In this amazing paradise called Puerto Vallarta there are a lot places to do anything you can imagine. We recommend you do your homework and look up places you might be interested in.  It’s always good to do something different than your usual.

If you know cool places where our friends can eat and have fun leave a comment.  We would like to know where you have been.

  • Linda’s Puerto Vallarta Shopping Tips

    Puerto Vallarta’s Wonderful Markets

One of the most important things to good cooking is finding fresh, locally grown ingredients.  The experience of wandering through Mexico’s markets can be a beautiful experience not only experiencing the flavors of the culture but the flavors of the food.   Two of my favorite mercados in the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta is “El Mercado de Col. Emiliano Zapata”, located on the east end of Calle Lazaro Cardenas and the other is “El Mercado de Col. 5 de Diciembre”, located on Calle Brasila, near the Panteon (cemetery).
The mercado on calle Lazaro Cardenas opens very early, at 3am, because it is a main supplier to the local restaurants in Vallarta.  The seasonal fruits and vegetables are wonderful, as are the fresh herbs and even fresh juices, squeezed on the spot. Farm fresh eggs (do not put the eggs in the refrigerator!), and dried chiles and beans are also available.  There are also several fresh cheese “locales” within a block that have fresh panela and queso fresco amongst others. The mercado is open 7 days a week.

My favorite place to buy fresh fish and shellfish is the mercado on calle Brasilia.  This mercado is also open very early, with the freshest fish available that was caught early the same morning.  In many instances you can bargain a little price wise, especially if you purchase in large quantities.  Everyone is friendly and eager to assist you.  Be careful when you wear sandals because the cement it is wet and constantly being cleaned.   There is also a tortilleria on the south corner of this mercado for your convenience.  This mercado is open 7 days a week as well. Please do not hesitate to support these local markets.  It is fun, and also you are helping the local economy.

  • House Hunters International Puerto Vallarta Episode #2

    June 6, 2013 on HGTV

House Hunters International hadn’t filmed any episodes in Puerto Vallarta until last year when they contacted Timothy Real Estate Group about auditioning for the show. Our first episode aired March of 2012 and on June 6th 2013 our second episode aired highlighting Puerto Vallarta once again and the wonderful property options that are available here. Puerto Vallarta is a very popular destination for tourism and property investments, which makes this opportunity to use House Hunters International as a vehicle to get the word out, just perfect.

The second episode was shot in November and now finally the day arrived for its airing with much anticipation so we decided to have a premiere party, which was exciting, just like getting ready to watch the Oscars or the Super Bowl!  Our wonderful friends Ray and Anne Young invited us to their beautiful home in Molino de Agua to celebrate and watch the new show. Our star agent, Taniel Chemsian could be nominated for an Emmy he did so well. Valium Our buyers, David and Andrea Golombeck were incredible and very relaxed in front of the camera which let their personalities shine through.

Ray and Anne had every television in the house tuned in to HGTV but the big screen was were everyone congregated. We all cheered when we all saw the first glimpse of Puerto Vallarta looking straight down Calle Aquiles Serdan to the end of the street and seeing the beautiful beach and bay.  Different shots of downtown were used including shops, galleries and the beautiful cobblestone streets.

One of the highlights of the evening was when Taniel’s mother called from Los Angeles to let him know that Puerto Vallarta looked so beautiful she wanted to move from Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta, and soon.

We are so thankful to have the opportunity to be involved in a project like this and be able to enjoy it as an office and as a community of friends and clients. Filming starts in August for episode three. We can’t wait to see what surprises the new episode will bring.

  • 365 Fun Things To Do In Puerto Vallarta #3 Playa Mismaloya

    Playa Mismaloya Puerto Vallarta
    Playa Mismaloya Puerto Vallarta

Sunday is beach day in Puerto Vallarta for tourists and residents alike.   Playa Los Muertos and the town beaches get quite crowded on this day, so it can be lots of fun to take off to one of the many close by beaches.  Playa Mismaloya is located 20 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta and you can get there by bus, taxi or car.  Take Carratera a Mismaloya south – you access the public beach on the road just to the south of the Barcelo Resort.

Playa Mismaloya is located within a small bay that is fed by the Rio Mismaloya and it is a fantastic place for swimming as there is no strong  tide or undertow.  You can hire a boat to go fishing or to take a trip around Los Arcos.  Jet skis and parasailing are available.  There are several beachfront restaurants with fish, seafood and Mexican food items and they provide beach service including tables, chairs and chaises and of course bar service so you can have all the beers or margaritas you desire.

You can take a stroll along the beach and you can also see what remains of the Night of the Iguana movie set that was filmed in this very location 49 years ago in 1963.

It is a great way to spend time with friends or family and while away an afternoon at the beach.

  • 365 Fun Things to do in Puerto Vallarta – Go to the Zoo

Puerto Vallarta ZooThe Puerto Vallarta Zoo is an experience completely different than going to the zoo in the United States or Canada.  In my opinion a visit is a must do fun thing.  The Puerto Vallarta zoo is located about thirty minutes from El Centro Vallarta by car or an easy forty five minute bus ride.  Located southshore across from Hotel Barcelo.  Once you arrive you can park and enjoy a walk to the front gates to begin your adventure or take a short detour and enjoy a relaxing horseback ride through the wilderness first.  When you get to the front gate of the zoo you will have the opportunity to buy snacks, water, etc. for your walk through the zoo.  The best part, you can buy snacks for the animals too.  If you choose you can buy a large bag of veggies and openly feed giraffes, monkeys, flamingos, and much, much more.  With the exception of a few animals where it would be unsafe, most animals in the Puerto Vallarta Zoo are in open cages and habitats.  Some even run free around the paths of the zoo like the peacocks.  Bring comfortable shoes so you can enjoy the hike throughout the entire zoo, it is quite large.

With all the animals you can imagine, not only can you feed them, you can also play with some animals.  They often have baby tigers, lions, or jaguars.  As babies you can hold and feed them, when they are at least a couple of months old you can play with them and at about six months you can gently pet and take photos.  After about six months they will go into their habitat in the zoo and not have contact with guests.  The zoo in Puerto Vallarta is a great vacation experience or a must if you live here.  Enjoy!
